Membership

The National Capital Equestrian Club has over 180 members. The Club always welcomes new members at any level of competition. Membership of the National Capital Equestrian Club is on a financial year basis - from July to June the following year. Renewal reminders are not sent to members but are included in the Club Newsletter along with a renewal form. A membership form is also available on this website and should be sent to the Membership Secretary, at the address on the form.

Newsletter

The National Capital Equestrian Club produces a regular Newsletter for its members. It contains news, updates, forms and results and points score tables. Members can place advertisements for a small fee. The Newsletter is emailed to members with an email address, posted to those that don't have email address and is also available on the website. To receive the Newsletter you must be a member of the Club. You will receive the Newsletter automatically upon becoming a member. Members are encouraged to receive the Newsletter electronically as it saves the Club money, which can be put toward providing better services for our members.

Arena Hire

NCEC has acquired, with the assistance of a grant from the Sport and Recreation ACT, a set of four arenas which meet the Equestrian Federation of Australia's requirements under (EFA) Rule 1.10, which came into effect on the 1 January 2004.

These arenas are available for hire from by associations wishing to conduct dressage competitions. The cost is $200 for the four arenas. Set up and take down may be arranged through NCEC or it can be done by the hirer.

The arenas are packed in a heavy, purpose built trailer and a four wheel drive with a break-away brake unit attached is required for towing. Should you not have a suitable vehicle, NCEC can arrange for the trailer to be towed to your grounds. A separate fee is negotiable for this service.

Committee

The National Capital Equestrian Club is an incorporated body and has an elected Committee comprised of a President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and 6-8 additional members who are elected at the Annual General Meeting each year. Members are encouraged to become involved in the administration of their Club.

Committee Meetings

Committee Meetings in 2011-2012 will be held at 7:30 pm at the Weston Club, 1 Liardet Street, Weston on the following Mondays (unless otherwise indicated):

13 February 2012, 12 March 2012, 9 April 2012, 14 May 2012 and 11 June 2012. The Annual General Meeting is usually held in August of every year at a venue to be decided. The details of the AGM will be provided to all members.

Members Awards

Rider of the Year

These awards are decided on a point score basis. Riders must compete in 3 or more competitions during the financial year. The award is for a single horse and rider combination. Six points are awarded for first place down to one point for sixth place for Preliminary, Novice and Elementary levels and three points for first place and one point for third place in Medium and Advanced levels. Prizes are awarded according to the following age groups:

30-39

40-49

50-59

60+

Male Rider of the Year

In an effort to encourage more men to don the jods and have a go the NCEC offers a special award to the male riders with the highest point score of the year. Riders must still compete in 3 or more competitions during the financial year. Points are awarded as for Rider of the Year.

Horse of the Year

These awards are also decided on a point score basis. Horses must compete in 3 or more competitions during the financial year. The award is for a single horse and rider combination. Six points are awarded for first place down to one point for all levels of competition from Preliminary to Advanced. Where a horse is winning in two levels, that horse is only eligible for one award. The horse coming second in the lower level will receive the lower level award.

Veteran Horse Of The Year

The "Veteran Horse of The Year" award recognises our more mature & wiser neddies. While the older horse can present owners with the challenge of keeping them healthy and sound they can still provide many years of faithful service and very often become great teachers. Just imagine if we all learnt to ride on an experienced & educated horse… so lets reward them. There is one award each year and it covers any level test you ride and any aged horse over 15 years. Six points are awarded for first place down to one point for sixth place for Preliminary, Novice and Elementary levels and three points for first place and one point for third place in Medium and Advanced levels. This prize can only be won once by any individual horse.

Volunteer of the Year

This award is for those of our helpers who are not members of NCEC but help us out at our events throughout the competition year.
